Drag+drop form partnership with vjoon

20/10/2009

Drag+drop have entered into an exciting international partnership with German based software publishing company, vjoon, acting as a UK reseller for their multimedia platform, K4 (version 6).

vjoon (formerly SoftCare), are a leading developer of visionary publishing solutions based on the Adobe Creative Suite. Having been in the publishing business for almost 20 years, they truly understand the needs of publishers, and this is reflected in their database-driven publishing system, K4.

vjoon’s customers use K4 on a daily basis to produce newspapers, magazines, corporate reports, image brochures, packaging design, books, and much more. The stable, server-hosted, database-driven publishing system offers media companies and corporate publishers the ideal solution for managing content of any kind and for preparing and distributing it through a variety of media channels.

While editors are still writing articles, graphic designers can already start the layout without having to wait for the finished text, resulting in enormous time savings for newspapers and media houses.

Multiple users can edit objects of the same K4 Article, while other users can add or edit that file’s metadata. When finished, a user merely has to tell the system whether the task was handled successfully. Once all tasks associated with a given object workflow stage have been completed, the status of the object is automatically advanced to the next stage as defined in the workflow.

The K4 task-based workflow model also allows “rewinds” and “emergency assignments” (if a problem occurs that prevents a user from completing a task), so that the task can be reverted to a previous stage or routed to a user who can resolve the problem.

Drag+drop are thoroughly convinced by the benefits K4 can bring to the UK publishing industry, and are subsequently thrilled to be making the software available to this market.

Drag+drop roll-out Engine

08/10/2009

The PDF Engine is Drag+drop's new application that enables end users to work with other DTP applications besides MultiAd Creator, before uploading templates to Promotor or any other Drag+drop software.

It also enables users to edit items and adverts within the Drag+drop application it has been uploaded to, without the need to reopen the item or advert in the DTP application it was created in. So it can be edited in Promotor (for example), and built.

The flexibility improvements are not just limited to Promotor - Bluefin and EZAdsPro also benefit fom this new technology.

And the improvements are not just limited to improved choice; the item and advert build times are much quicker too! Where a typical Creator advert build would take 12 seconds, a PDF Engine build now takes 2 seconds! Creator was fast - the PDF Engine is faster!

So the PDF Engine integrates with Drag+drop products to speed-up production while offering the flexibility to use the DTP software of your choice.

Drag+drop launch EzAdsPro Sales Assistant

09/07/2009

Drag+drop's latest product - EzAdsPro Sales Assistant - provides newspaper publishers with the ability to provide their customer base with online display advertisement placement.

In common with their other products, it's server-hosted, and therefore enjoys all the benefits this brings (fast updates, no maintenance, no installs etc.). And just like Blufin Place Ads, EzAdsPro Sales Assistant gives newspaper publishers another revenue stream, while also potentially boosting readership.

The software is highly customizable, and can quickly and easily be altered to maintain consistency with a newspaper's existing branding.

Furthermore, its flexibility means that it can accommodate an unlimited number of Ad categories.

In addition, existing Ad templates created in a range of DTP applications can be used with the software thanks to the integrated PDF Engine.

And because the whole piece of software is contained within a single iframe, it can be slotted into existing websites with ease.

CNG adds to multi-media platform

20/04/2008

As part of its overall strategic plan for multi-media publishing, the Cumbrian Newspaper Group (CNG) in Carlisle has become the first company in the UK to sign up for the local community marketplace platform from Bluefin Technology Partners. The sale was made by Drag&Drop, Bluefin’s distributor in the UK and Ireland, and is part of an evolving partnership which has also involved Drag&Drop supplying property and motors advertising systems. With the Bluefin platform, self-service will now be extended to all types of on-line, print and web-based advertisements via CNG’s ClickIin2 Web-site.

CNG joins Bluefin’s existing customers, Black Press of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and the East Oregonian Publishing Company, publishers of Capital Press of Salem, Oregon.

All these clients have collaborated with Bluefin to accelerate the advancement of its innovative place ad and online classified publishing platform, including the extending of features to advertising call centre operations.

We are pleased to add this distinguished British newspaper publisher to our client list, said Rich Grover, Bluefin founder and general partner for technology. The response to the Bluefin platform has been very positive as the demand grows for local self service advertising solutions. We are especially delighted with the interest outside of North America, and see a tremendous opportunity to offer our solutions globally.

It has also been announced that CNG has installed the latest version of SalesWorks Multi-media (MM), the advertising booking system from IPA Systems. It will be coupled with the existing IPA CanvassWorks software.

SalesWorks MM performs multi-channel ad bookings in a single transaction whether it be for print, web, radio, eBook or any other media. In other words, the software allows advertising vehicles to be created to exploit the ever changing marketplace.

Each product within a booking can have a different sized advert or varying content including publishing date or publishing period. It is also possible to have multiple content appearing on the same day.

For content created within SalesWorks (MM), a server based rendering engine is used. Developed by Iceni Technology as part of a joint project, this enables the production of PDF files and the delivery of jpeg images to the desktop.

For example, this could be a small display ad appearing in a feature with a basic lineage ad in the classified section and multiple web ads. These could be produced in different sizes such as a banner ad for the home page with a rotator ad in the sports zone of the web site.

In addition, published products can have individual default attributes. These can include, for example, the automatic re-purposing to other publishing mediums such as Fish4 or Legacy.com. Web ads can also default to the sports, homes, business or some other page within the web site.

NEWBURY WEEKLY NEWS GOES WITH PM v2.5

13/08/2007

In an effort to get closer to their Property Agents by feeding from clients back-office systems, The Newbury Weekly News is moving forward with PM2.5 and also PDF Server Composition.

Throughout the country there are many Property Back-Office Systems and Estate Agents on the whole are very happy with their business choices, so it is the responsibility of software such as PM2.5 to make the link between their business systems and web and newspaper advertising feeds.

This enables the Agent to have a seamless interaction with the local newspaper with no secondary database involved, in most cases a simple click on an import button will begin the process of item creation, then page make-up is achieved by auto-flowing the sorted items directly onto the page.

Newbury are also using our New PDF Server, which enables items and pages from any DTP application to be uploaded and worked with.

Drag & Drop support many feeds already - but will also develop feeds for clients FOC where required.

PM2 gets new features

22/10/2006

Drag and Drop will be releasing the latest PM2 before year end 2006. Many new features, including: Drag and drop pagination, a re-structured interface and many new Automotive list and overlay features will of course be offered as a free upgrade to our existing clients, whilst at the same time, making it a far more desirable product for those who possess just a one-classification solution.

The idea is to make the self-service experience for the client far more attractive and feature rich, whilst also allowing publishers to increase the types of advertising for which they can offer a top class self-service solution.

self-service automotive display ads

08/09/2006

PM2 is now handling 95% of all Automotive display advertising. Complicated lists are easily composed by the dealer from a browser, all the dealer needs to do is to copy his inventory list into the browser window and hit the build button.

He/She is then presented with the sorted, styled list, placed inside their template shell. Complicated tabing routines, boxed elements, style changes are all taken care of out of site from the dealer, all they do is cut and paste their list into the browser.

Different heading styles are easily coped with and all copy is sorted automatically under it's respective heading, either ascending or descending in price order. The dealer does not have to worry about putting his new entries in order, PM2 does that for them.
